Charity Compass ownership, independence, data sources, and disclosure commitments.
Purpose
Charity Compass is a donor research tool that makes public Canadian charity filings easier to search, compare, and verify.
Independence
Charity Compass is not affiliated with the Canada Revenue Agency or Charity Intelligence. CRA records are used under the Open Government Licence – Canada; third-party ratings are attributed where displayed.
Inclusion and payment
Registered charities in the dataset are included from public records. Charities do not pay Charity Compass for inclusion or placement.
Conflicts
Any conflict involving a project principal or funder will be disclosed on the affected charity profile, and Charity Compass will recuse itself from rating that entity.
Right of reply
A charity may submit a response for display beside its profile. Published responses are not removed. This launch process is currently handled by email.
