AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL PLAYS A ROLE IN THE INTERNATIONAL PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS. THE ORGANIZATION TAKES ACTION TO STOP GRAVE ABUSES OF RIGHTS TO PHYSICAL AND MENTAL INTEGRITY FREEDOM OF CONSCIENCE AND EXPRESSION AND FREEDOM FROM DISCRIMINATION.

AMNESTY'S PROGRAMS TEND TO BE ONGOING RATHER THAN NEW. IN RECENT YEARS THE ORGANIZATION HAS FOCUSED ON THE RIGHTS OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES. CORPORATE ACCOUNTABILITY WITH RESPECT TO HUMAN RIGHTS ANTI-RACISM AND ANTI-OPPRESSION ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE AND THE NEED FOR HUMAN RIGHTS TO BE CONSIDERED WHEN SECURITY ISSUES ARE ADDRESSED. AMNESTY ALSO FOCUSES ON FREEING PRISONERS OF CONSCIENCE PROTECTING REFUGEES ABOLISHING THE DEATH PENALTY ENDING POLITICAL KILLINGS DISAPPEARANCES TORTURE AND OTHER GRAVE HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES AS WELL AS DEFENDING WOMEN'S HUMAN RIGHTS.
