FRED VICTOR CENTRE

Fred Victor is a dynamic innovative rapidly growing multi-service non-denominational organization with a 130-year track record of supporting people experiencing homelessness living on very low incomes or struggling with mental health issues/illness. Fred Victor is committed to ending homelessness one person at a time. We operate 621 units of housing (transitional housing supported housing and permanent affordable housing) for approximately 780 men women and families. We offer a continuum of services to address root causes of homelessness including street outreach drop-ins emergency shelters for 2 500 people eviction prevention and housing stability harm reduction including a safe consumption site with 30 000 visits nursing care counselling food security programs with 300 000 healthy meals served employment and training services including a social enterprise – all offered through 25 locations in the GTA.

Two new affordable housing projects are launching in 2024. At 1236 Birchmount Road Fred Victor is managing 32 large family units of supportive housing prioritizing newcomer families. In Parkdale Fred Victor was selected to partner with University Health Network Centre for Social Medicine the United Way and the City of Toronto to provide housing for homeless individuals with complex care issues in a new 51-unit four-story modular supportive housing building on Dunn Avenue offering integrated health supports. Fred Victor is the recipient of one of 10 North American TD Ready Challenge Grants to create innovative new housing; this grant will help us to deliver on our vision towards helping ensure a future where everyone has access to safe affordable housing.
