SINCE 1984 MWAG HAS BEEN THE SPONSORING AGENCY FOR A NUMBER OF PROJECTS DESIGNED TO BENEFIT WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES. IT IS MOST NOTED FOR OPERATING THE MUSKOKA INTERVAL HOUSE IN BRACEBRIDGE A 15 BED SHELTER FOR WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN FLEEING DOMESTIC ABUSE AND SINCE 2006 CHRYSALIS A 10 BED SHELTER WITH 10 SUPPORTIVE HOUSING UNITS IN HUNTSVILLE. THESE INCLUDE NON-RESIDENTIAL COUNSELLING FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN ON AN INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP BASIS AND SUPPORT FOR WOMEN INVOLVED IN THE LEGAL SYSTEM. MWAG IS THE LEAD AGENCY IN OUR COMMUNITY COORDINATING COMMITTEE (DART-DOMESTIC ASSAULT REVIEW TEAM). THE SHELTERS DO A VIGOROUS RECYCLING OF CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS BY ACCEPTING DONATIONS AND OFFERING THEM TO THOSE IN NEED.
