Ongoing programs

The Alexandra Writers' Centre Society is a Calgary-based charity which supports aspiring and experienced writers poets and authors. The Society provides courses seminars and workshops throughout the year to help individuals develop and build upon the fundamentals of writing. The Society also facilitates mentorship programs critique services writer discussions/presentations and other support services. The Alexandra Writers' Centre Society is a Calgary-based charity which supports aspiring and experienced writers poets and authors. The Society provides courses seminars and workshops throughout the year to help individuals develop and build upon the fundamentals of writing. The Society also facilitates mentorship programs critique services writer discussions/presentations and other support services. Additionally the society has a youth program for school-aged youth interested in writing and supports home school programs. The youth program aims to support young people in their lifelong passion for reading and writing by providing a safe supervised space for educational sessions and social events. Additionally the Society hosts a weekend writers retreat to provide members with a concentrated set of workshops and lessons led by professional instructors plus Online courses programs workshops and conference collaboration Online published author presentations and Online and in-person book launches and events.

New programs

During the 2023-24 fiscal year the Society took over the management of the When Words Collide Conference a 600-person low-cost conference in Calgary Alberta which presents workshops courses and presentations for three days for readers and writers.
