THIS IS PROVIDED THROUGH A NETWORK OF 21 LIBRARY BRANCHES AND OVER 6.3 MILLION IN PHYSICAL AND DIGITAL MATERIALS (I.E. BOOKS CDS DVDS VIDEO GAMES AND DIGITAL DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT). THE EDMONTON PUBLIC LIBRARY IS COMMITTED TO A COMMUNITY-LED SERVICE PHILOSOPHY WHICH ENSURE LIBRARY SERVICES MEET NEEDS BY TAKING SERVICES MEET NEEDS BY TAKING SERVICE BEYOND THE LIBRARY WALLS INTO THE COMMUNITY THROUGH COMMUNITY LIBARIANS AND OTHER LIBRARY STAFF. THE FOLLOWING PROVIDES A SUMMARY OF KEY ACTIVITIES ON HOW THE EDMONTON PUBLIC LIBRARY CARRIES OUT ITS PROGRAMS: 1) PURCHASING AND CATALOGING LIBRARY MATERIALS (BOOKS PERIODICALS ELECTRONIC AUDIO/VISUAL MEDIA AND DIGITAL CONTENT). 2) PROVIDE RESEARCH AND INFORMATION SERVICES TO CITIZENS INCLUDING ACCESS TO EARLY CHILDHOOD LITERACY. 3) PROVIDE PROGRAMMING SERVICES THROUGH LITERACY VANS AND LIBRARY ACCESS TO CITIZENS THAT ARE HOUSEBOUND THROUGH A VOLUNTEER DELIVERY SERVICE. 4) PROVIDE CITIZENS WITH RESOURCES AND ACCESS TO 21 LIBRARY BRANCHES. 5) PROVIDE SERVICES FOR INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES . 6) PROVIDE OUTREACH SERVICES TO CUSTOMERS. 7) PROVIDE ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY AND DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT (I.E. INTERNET) AND DIGITAL LITERACY.
