THE VANCOUVER EAST CULTURAL CENTRE

The Cultch is Vancouver's most diverse and innovative arts and cultural hub. We operate three theatres a gallery and various multi-use spaces in the heart of East Vancouver. We offer dynamic contemporary programming in theatre dance music and the visual arts bringing world-class cultural presentations to our community. Our purpose is to provide programming expertise and space for: diverse audiences the development of BIPOC artists artistic experimentation the presentation of cutting-edge national and international work. More than 100 different live and digital presentations each season are seen by over 50 000 people. Beginning in 2020 with the Covid-19 pandemic the Cultch embraced digital platforms to increase the diversity reach and accessibility of programming and creation. Our programs include: - a 9 month live presentation series - two festivals - an educational youth program - a youth festival - an artist residency and education program - an ticket give away program - an extensive community outreach program - a comprehensive Indigenous program and outreach

Since the advent of Covid 19 the Cultch has been delivering programming over digital channels both livestream and pre-recorded streaming. Our facilities have been used by multiple groups and festivals to film and stream their productions as well. In the fall of 2019 we started a new festival that has now become a part of our yearly offerings the Transform Cabaret Festival features Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists from local national and international locations. We also consolidated our Femmes Series into a festival beginning in 2022 called Femmes Festival. In 2024 We formalized and expanded our offerings to the Indigenous community and created the Indigenous Program.
