Ongoing programs

The primary program of the West Kootenay Women's Association is the Drop-in Resource and Referral Program. This program is currently offered three days a week and supports approximately 300 women gender-diverse individuals and children annually. We support approximately 170 service user interactions each month through drop-in. The primary program of the West Kootenay Women's Association is the Drop-in Resource and Referral Program. This program is currently offered three days a week and supports approximately 300 women gender-diverse individuals and children annually. We support approximately 170 service user interactions each month through drop-in. Drop-in offers a safe space to receive support information a nutritious meal access to the food hamper program free clothing store peer support counseling and referrals to outside agencies for support with sexual assault sexual health housing poverty and legal issues.. In addition to these services we offer a comprehensive volunteer training program that introduces volunteers to topics such as feminism inclusion anti-oppression self-care conflict resolution and information about other resources in our community. We also facilitate a youth empowerment program for girls and gender diverse individuals aged 8-16 addressing health sexuality inclusion empowerment education skill development social media awareness and more. We empower our community and provide support to those in need through our unique programs. Our Vision is Equality in a world free of oppression.
