About the Kamloops Music Collective and our ongoing programs The Kamloops Music Collective (KMC) is a year-round society that facilitates opportunities for music making in our community. We have 5 main programs to fulfill our mandate: The Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music (KISSM) which is a 3-week music program that has been serving our community since 1978 the Whole Note program which serves restricted-income youth dedicated to the study of music BAND Together introduces grade 6/7 students to high school band Set the Stage! a theatrical program at spring break and our KMC Outreach program that tailors music education programs to meet the needs of our community. The Kamloops Music Collective regularly supports restricted and low income youth with the costs associated with music education through our Whole Note and KISSM Bursaries. We also provide music equipment to low income youth. In the 2023-2024 fiscal year the Kamloops Music Collective was able to offer all of our main programs: KISSM The Whole Note Program Set the Stage! BAND Together and we worked with local organizations for our Outreach program. Our Mission The Kamloops Music Collective provides music students with the 'key' to the development of artistic excellence in our community. When you participate in music programs through the KMC you benefit from professional guidance and mentorship. You learn about excellence in performing and producing music for your community. You also network with like-minded musicians to uncover available opportunities for sustaining artistic development. Our goal is to create an inclusive learning environment where students of all levels are encouraged to develop their love of music.

New Programs Down the Rabbit Hole- NEW PROGRAM IN 2024. This program ran for one week in August and welcomed students in grades 3-8 to join us for a week full of fun musical theater set design and instrument exploration. In one short week they managed to pull of an entire hour long production of Alice in Wonderland and got to practice their new skills in a performance for friends and family at the end of the program! Set the Stage! Music Exploration- NEW PROGRAM IN 2024. This program ran for the second week of Spring Break in March and welcomed students in grades 2-7 to come and explore a variety of instruments. This program incorporated world music ukulele guitar djembes marimbas and more in a fun and engaging opportunity for the youth to explore what their musical passion lies. Rhythms of Summer- NEW PROGRAM IN 2024. This program for one week in August and welcomed students in grades 4-9 to explore percussion in a number of different ways. This included bucket drumming djembes body percussion music theory reading music and drumline. It was a perfect way for students in this age range to explore this dynamic art form.
