NORTH YORK COMMUNITY HOUSE

North York Community House (NYCH) is an award-winning dynamic multi-serviceneighbourhood centre that has been working with residents in under-resourced andlow-income neighbourhoods of northwest Toronto for over 30 years. We are committed to building strong vibrant communities and we do this by engaging residents understanding their needs and supporting them in achieving their goals.As a result of our work newcomers are able to develop the skills knowledge and connections to settle gain employment and build successful lives in their new home; children and youth are supported in becoming active healthy citizens and residents are provided with training and opportunities that enable them to become leaders in improving their own lives and their neighbourhoods. NYCH believes that all the community members we serve have the strength and ability to meet their goals – our role is to help them get there.

Digital Literacy Program provides Information training and support to increase the digital literacy of adults(especially seniors and newcomers) who experience difficulty accessing andparticipating in digital and online programs and services. Journeys to Active Citizenship project fosters active citizenship amongst newcomers across Canada through developing civic engagement program models and curriculum tools that will be used by settlement agencies. During fiscal 2024 the Organization entered into an agreement with Wecelium Inc. a company whose President serves as a current director on the Board of the Organization. The purpose of the agreement is to work together to co-create a project plan to design develop and launch a community-led community-governed social finance investment fund the Toronto Impact Initiative ('TII') . Neither does the director nor Wecelium Inc. receive remuneration resulting from the agreement.
