Services and Housing In the Province (SHIP) is a community based agency providing a spectrum of low to high intensity housing and support services through a variety of programs. Support services include supportive counselling intensive case management specialized supports (nursing trauma hoarding occupational therapy) addiction support vocational support social rehabilitation/recreation tenancy support financial literacy support crisis intervention community development and wellness and training and education. These programs address the complex needs of people living with mental illness addictions and physical health challenges. SHIP strives to create the best possible environment by working closely with individuals enabling them to embrace their full potential and to achieve their goals of recovery wellness and living successfully in their own community. Some programs include: • Supportive Housing Safe Beds Assertive Community Treatment Teams Case Management Centralized Intake/Coordinated Access Early Intervention Dual Diagnosis Social Rehab/ recreation vocational support High Support Addiction Housing BSO Integrated Seniors Team Transitional Housing for Youth Outreach services Housing First Services and Community Homes For Opportunity (CHO).
New programs
'University Avenue Transitional Housing' is supported by the Region of Waterloo and SHIP. The facility is owned and operated by the Region of Waterloo while SHIP manages the daily programming and staffing. SHIP provides transitional housing and supports for individuals and couples. Supports are provided 24 hours/day 7 days/week with staff onsite. 'Region of Peel Overflow shelter' is supported by the Region of Peel and SHIP. The overflow facility provides temporary housing and essential support services for families experiencing homelessness when regular shelters reach capacity.
