The two primary programs of the Canadian Bioethics Society are: National Health Ethics Week - The Canadian Bioethics Society supports the coordination and promotion of a series of educational events held across the country with the goal of raising awareness increasing knowledge and encouraging dialogue about current and emerging ethical issues in health care to healthcare providers and the public. The 2023 Canadian Bioethics Society's National Health Ethics Week was held virtually. Annual Conference - The Canadian Bioethics Society hosts an annual conference held in different locations across the country. The conference embraces the participation of students and includes a student abstract contest which provides a cash award to the top three entrants to support their attendance at the conference. The local conference organizing committee is comprised of volunteers who spend many hours assisting with the planning and delivery of the conference. Due to the withdrawal of the local organizing committee for the 2023 annual Conference it did not take place. The Society is revisiting the concept of holding a hybrid Conference every two years and alternating it with a biannual online event (see Workshops and Community Forum).

New programs

Conversations in Canadian Bioethics - This virtual event was first held in 2022 and continued with four sessions in 2024. The series held quarterly featured one or two presenters along with a moderator discussing issues of interest to the members of the bioethics community followed by a question and answer session. Annual Conference - a Joint annual conference was held in Montreal in May 2025 in conjunction with the International Conference on Clinical Ethics and Consultation (ICCEC).
