What it does — in its own words
Ongoing programs
The museum continues to present the stories and history of Stony Plain and Parkland County through their many historic buildings and artifacts. Events held were Canada Day Farmers Day and Harvest Festival Celebrations. We also ran a school program primarily in English but also in French as well as offering senior tours and in person tours for our many visitors. The museum relies heavily on volunteers to carry out these activities and accumulated over 18 000 volunteer hours in 2024.
New programs
The museum completed two new 6 000 sq ft buildings in 2024. One building will be set up in 2025 to display agriculture machinery and larger museum artifacts. The second building when complete will chronicle the history of power generation in the area and a military exhibit concentrating on the local contributions of the major world conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
