Minds on Math

Minds-On continues to deliver high-impact educational and mentorship opportunities to youth through a range of dynamic programs tailored to meet the evolving needs of our community. Minds-On Math supported over 125 students this past year connecting them with educators for individualized or small-group instruction in a virtual format. Sessions were held four days a week during school hours with additional tutoring available twice weekly in the afternoons. In Summer 2024 we expanded our reach through the Summer Missions Program (July 2–11) which ran three days a week with a hybrid structure. The program served low-income and marginalized youth including those with disabilities behavioral challenges and special needs. Programming focused on academic enrichment wellness and leadership development while creating a safe supportive environment for growth. Each day followed a structured format including hands-on themed activities in areas such as Health & Wellness Engineering & Innovation Sports & Olympics Science & Discovery and Environmental Stewardship through our Eco Bliss Creations station. Youth also participated in daily debrief sessions to reflect on their experiences build self-awareness and recognize personal growth. Afternoon programming included: Incubator Sessions (1–3 PM): A space for youth to explore entrepreneurship innovation and financial literacy supported by guest speakers and one-on-one mentoring. Tutoring (3–5 PM): Academic support provided in both virtual and in-person formats by trained youth leaders and educators. Fridays featured Community Engagement Nights with activities such as movie nights karaoke puzzles and games—offered at no cost to participants to foster connection and joy outside of formal programming.

As we continue to grow Minds-On is expanding its programming to further engage marginalized and newcomer communities through new accessible and cost-free initiatives aimed at breaking down barriers to participation. We are launching hybrid community seminars focused on reestablishing social connections post-pandemic providing education support and access to local resources. These sessions aim to address systemic inequities by fostering belonging and shared learning experiences. These efforts are closely tied to the Minds-On Mentorship Program a twice-weekly gathering that supports youth in developing leadership skills and building lasting relationships with mentors and community leaders. This program is a foundational component of the Minds-On Teen Leadership Program providing youth with resources role models and structured opportunities to give back. We are also introducing bi-monthly Sunday Fun-Day events offering free recreational activities for families in our community. These events provide an inclusive alternative to many of the costly extracurricular programs that are out of reach for underserved families. Together these initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to equity empowerment and engagement ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive—academically socially and emotionally.
