Our primary programs continue to include publication of election guides educational materials for individuals and schools and news commentary provided through our newsletter. Election Guides: In 2024 we published non-partisan bi-lingual election guides for: • The October 2024 B.C. By year’s end more than 23 000 visitors accessed the page downloading over 20 000 documents. https://catholicconscience.org/canada/federal/2025federal/ Educational Materials: We continued to publish materials explaining principles of Catholic social thought and their application to civic and social issues online and in downloadable form. They continue to be used by schools and universities across Canada and elsewhere. We host and sponsor educational events topics of Catholic social interest and have begun posting audio files alongside printed material. A new effort in this area is co-sponsoring a course in ethical journalism as a week-long in-person course hosted in Toronto: 'Telling Truth in Charity: Introduction to Catholic Journalism' to occur from August 10-16 2025. The intended audience includes journalists and aspiring journalists who want to learn or refine their skills in faith-based reporting for Catholic media. Activities include one-on-one mentoring with established journalism and publication of articles drafted as exercises during the course. The goal is to encourage new and experienced journalists always to seek balance and truth in reporting telling truth in a spirit of charity. Catholic Conscience is collaborating with the Catholic Register newspaper The B.C. Catholic The Religion & Journalism Project Catholic Media Association of the United States and Canada Catholic Women’s League of Canada and Association of Roman Catholic Communicators of Canada to present the course. Catholic Conscience does not anticipate deriving any revenue from this program. Its role is advisory only helping to shape the curriculum and the online platform. Its goal is to help develop a pool of writers to draft news items and commentary related to Catholic Conscience's mission of civic engagement.
