1) Telephone Addiction Support (780.220.7811) The Fellowship Centre phone number is available on the Fellowship Centre website in the Fellowship Newsletter and on the Canadian Mental Health Association (Edmonton) List of Resources for People with Addictions. Volunteers answer the phone from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM 365 days a year providing addiction peer-support as well as information about the Centre and about available support for addiction recovery. 2) Fellowship Newsletter (https://fellowship-centre.org) The Fellowship Newsletter is available by online subscription; paper copies are available at the Centre. Past newsletters are accessible on the Fellowship Centre’s website. The newsletter includes recovery information and a calendar of monthly recovery support meetings and events held at the Centre. 3) Twelve Step Addiction Recovery Meetings There are currently 26 weekly 12-Step mutual support recovery meetings held at the Fellowship Centre including Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Cocaine Anonymous (CA) Gamblers Anonymous (GA) Sex Addicts Anonymous (SAA) and Overeaters Anonymous (OA). 4) Fellowship Library The Fellowship Library lends books magazines and audio-visual material relevant to understanding and recovering from addiction. To ensure anonymity library material is not signed out. Those who visit the Centre take library material that they feel may help them and return it when they are finished. 5) Social Events Social isolation characterizes individuals as their addiction progresses. Coming out of isolation and regaining a sense of community is essential to the recovery process. Supportive human connection is considered a type of addiction treatment for sustaining long-term recovery. The Fellowship Centre has had many social events since it opened in 2021 with more being planned. 6) Volunteer Opportunities and Support Volunteering is generally associated with improved quality of life. It is an essential aspect of both 12-Step and SMART addiction recovery programs. Operation and maintenance of the Fellowship Centre and its programs are entirely dependent upon substantial and continuous volunteer efforts. Such efforts help many maintain recovery from addiction.
