Purpose: Relief of poverty for impoverished indigenous people of Guatemala through the building of small basic houses that become the home they never dreamed they could have. The organization will send the funding and volunteers (no volunteers traveled during Covid but funding was sent and houses built) to Guatemala to buy the materials needed for a 3.96 meter by 5.79 meter (13' x 19') cinder block home that includes a concrete floor window locking metal door fiberglass panel roof cement cook stove water purifier bunk beds and a monthly food provision of basic food items for the first year of residency. Through a selection process administered by our local Director of the organization indigenous Mayan families will be screened for their eligibility and placed on a waiting list. To be selected the families must demonstrate that they have clear title to the parcel of land where the organization will build the house. This ensures that they will not have any danger of losing the property and house after we donate it to them. They must also have a clear Mayan heritage and the families selected must have at least one or more children under the age of ten. Most selected families will actually have two or more children under the age of ten. None of the families selected would ever have the means to build their own home. Purpose: Relieve poverty and advance education by providing school supplies to Guatemalan children who would not otherwise afford them and not attend school.
