We held a food kitchen once a month at the corner of East Hastings St. and Main St. in Vancouver Canada. We provided a lunch meal with the help of 6-8 volunteers for each visit including meal preparation and distribution. Twice a year we collected and handed out clothing that had been collected by the organization (from local community groups such as recreational centers and schools) to those in need in addition to distributing hygiene products and food hampers. We then handed out these items to residents near the Union Gospel Mission in Vancouver. In November/December we held a warm blankets jackets gloves and socks drive to hand out to the housing insecure population. This was led and organized by 6 volunteers during that month.
New programs
We held 4 workshops at Immigrant Services Society of BC targeted at providing newly arrived refugee families information regarding the Canadian healthcare system. These 2 hour long sessions were organized and presented by 2-3 volunteers. We handed out pamphlets with key contact information of local resources and community support groups.
