We are a Canadian non-profit focused on educating and supporting Canadians and Belizeans living with diabetes. One major focus is on health disparities in BIPOC communities (Black Indigenous People of Colour) including food insecurity and culturally appropriate health support. Key Ongoing and New Charitable Programs / Activities Here are the main programs and initiatives I located: Annual 5K Run/Walk for Diabetes This is a fundraising event. The funds raised are used to support other programs (see below). 1.5-Acre Project (Food / Agriculture) One of the recent/new initiatives is for a 1.5-acre project. As described in their '5K Run/Walk' press release the fundraising in that year is aimed at supporting this project. The purpose: to produce or leverage land to help provide food security for diabetics. Presumably this supports monthly food boxes hot cultural meals etc. Food Boxes and Hot Cultural Meals The 1.5-acre project is tied to providing monthly food boxes to people with diabetes. Also providing hot cultural meals to children and youth living in low-income housing. This is an ongoing charitable activity. Addressing Food Insecurity in BIPOC / Low-income Communities The organization explicitly works to reduce food insecurity particularly among racialized or low-income groups. So the food boxes meals and the 1.5-acre project are part of that broader mission. Advocacy / Education We engage in educating communities about diabetes health disparities healthy lifestyles etc. especially targeted to their audience (BPOC communities in Canada and Belize).
New programs
We have initiatives in conjunction with Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) Novo-Disk and several public spirited organisations while some are the advance stage of execution.
