Ongoing programs

Education: BHLS provided two hands on workshops on Biochar and a total of 20 people attended the workshops. Links to resources regarding climate change impact on Gabriola Island are provided through the website. Research: BHLS continues to carry out research on the use of biochar measuring the percentage of biochar in the soil that was most effective for growing a range of vegetables.

New programs

BHLS supported a course responding to eco-grief/climate grief. More than 50 people attended the course. Many of them indicated interest in BHLS courses. BHLS provided information about the GHG tonnes resulting from travelling from Gabriola to national and international locations on the website. People are using it to determine how many tonnes GHG is being created for their specific trip. A biochar kiln was made available to those who attended the biochar workshops to use for their own property’s wood waste.
