thinkAG-is an innovative agricultural education program that challenges high school students to inspire their peers to consider careers in agriculture. Students and teachers reserach the diverse and abundant career opportunities with the ag and agri-food sectors. Students work collaboratively as marketing teams to organize a school event create inspiring ways to promote ag careers to their peers and then implement their marketing plan at the school event with the goal of reaching as many of their peers as possible. Light Gardens-a fun interactive and educational indoor gardening program that gives students in grades K-8 the opportunity to grow and eat healthy food right in their own classrooms. The teacdher's guide provides comprehensive activities with learning outcomes for 3 deliveries: Fall Winter and Spring. AITC PEI supplies participating classrooms with an indoor light kit garden soil and seeds classroom resources and training to help foster hands-on inquiry-based learning. CALM (Cdn Ag Literacy Month)-experiential events bringing together Island teachers students (K-12) and volunteers to participate in interactive educational activities that provide a unique setting to help better understand the importance and value of agriculture to their lives and their communities. Egg to Chick-students can experience chicks hatching in their classroom while meeting science language arts and math curriculum outcomes. Classes are provided with an incubator 12-20 fertilized eggs and everything needed to hatch chicks in the classroom. The process of going from egg to chick takes 21 days then the chicks are collected a few days after hatching. Worm Garden-fun interactive and educational indoor composting program that give students (K-6) the opportunity to eliminate their food waste by producing vermicompost which can then be used in their school gardens or to grow plants within classes. Hydroponics-The hydroponic tank is a simple and fun example of closed-loop farming a recirculating system and integrated multi-tropic ag. Demonstrating the combination of growing plants in water through hydroponics and raising aquatic animals in tanks through aquaculture. Both systems work together plants cleaning water for fish within the tank waste produced by fish gets converted to plant food which helps achieve the final goal of healthy plants and healthy fish.
