Green Light NB Enviro Club Feu Vert Inc.

EDUCATION : We organized 3 green seminars this year 1) Building a bat box ;2) Seed starting ; and 3) Conservation Easements. Worked on establishing a pollinator garden with educational signs explaining the concept at and with the Union Cemetery in an ecologically sensitive area. Took part in the annual municipal clean up and continued promoting the No Mow May campaign to encourage residents not to mow their lawns in May to provide food for pollinators. We organized nature activities (canoeing excursion and a snowshoe outing) to encourage reflection on the beauty of our natural world and the importance of preserving the environment. We promoted our organizations objectives at the leisure fair and participated in a public consultation on climate change organized by the NW regional services commission. COMMUNITY GARDEN Work was undertaken during to transfer garden assets to a group which includes gardeners who have formed a non profit organization. During 2024 Green Light monitored the group's management of the garden ensuring the original green and charitable objectives are maintained while developing a transfer agreement. At the request of the municipality we helped with managing the St André community garden. SUSTAINABLE FORESTRY: We donated 75 deciduous native tree seedlings worked on obtaining funding for a project with a sustainable forestry component and joined the NW Services Comm. sustainable development committee.
