Talent Beyond Boundaries (TBB Canada) relieves poverty of refugees and those forcibly displaced by conflict by creating the opportunity for refugees to move safely and legally to Canada using visas issued to skilled migrants to fill urgent skill gaps using Economic Class immigration pathways. TBB Canada works to create a new 'labour mobility' solution for refugees that helps refugees use their own skills to move from displacement to countries where they can support themselves and their families. Currently there are more than 25 million refugees worldwide. Most are precluded from legal work and the vast majority live in dire poverty. Their children are often denied education and have little access to health care or secure futures. Currently one of the few pathways out of this displacement has been humanitarian resettlement. Although Canada has been a leader worldwide in resettlement there are simply too few humanitarian placements available worldwide. As a result Talent Beyond Boundaries Inc (TBB US) was founded in 2016 as a US registered tax exempt charity to work with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) also known as the UN Refugee Agency to develop a new skill based solution to help refugees move safely and legally using economic visas. TBB US began working with the Government of Australia in 2017 and with the Government of Canada in 2018. In 2018 TBB US received a grant from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to begin a pilot implementation of this new refugee solution in Canada. Talent Beyond Boundaries Ltd (TBB Australia) was founded as an Australian charity in 2017 to support development of this solution in Australia. TBB Canada was formed in January 2020 to continue and deepen support for the development and implementation of this new refugee solution in Canada including its work in partnership with UNHCR and IRCC. TBB Canada was established on the initiative of TBB US but is independent from it. TBB Canada identifies refugees who are stuck in places where they cannot work legally and support themselves and their families and matches them to employers in Canada who are willing to hire refugees for jobs that they cannot fill locally. Once a refugee is offered a job TBB Canada helps coordinate the process of obtaining a visa for the refugee and their family and supports settlement.
