To relieve poverty and advance education in developing nations by providing basic necessities of life including food clean water clothing and/or shelter to individuals or families who are in need and access to tutoring school supplies and other educational opportunities for school-aged children. The Charity will carry out its activities in both Vancouver Canada through the eight directors of the Charity and in Zaragoza Guatemala via the Agent. The education support package will be for one year and will include for each beneficiary: - 1 school bag containing the necessary school supplies for one year corresponding to the needs of the age/grade of the child (i.e. packages for Kindergarten students will contain different supplies than packages for Grade 5 students). - Participation in an in-person teaching program. - A daily snack. - Participation in a learning-focused field trips. - Participation in a year-end student camp. - Transportation to classroom if deemed necessary for children who do not live within walking distance of the community building where teaching will take place. - Participation in planned extracurricular activities - Eligibility for the family members of children to participate in education family and community support programs. Education support packages will be provided to children on the basis of financial need. All families with children who are at the age appropriate for Kindergarten to Grade 6 living in Zaragoza and surrounding villages will be eligible to apply for the education support package on behalf of their children. Determining financial need will be based on an assessment of a family’s household income (excluding income from children) assets and total number of dependents. After conducting an initial assessment of all applicants for the year the Agent will send all applications to the directors with a report outlining which families face the highest financial need. Our program here in Canada allows us to empower those around us by providing opportunities for youth and the community in the Lower Mainland to get involved practice advocacy and discover their passion for inspiring change.
