During the time we reconvened the board and started meeting working to establish our approach to generating donations and to identify and reconfirm core fundraising priorities. We established our bank account set up processes and governance for reviewing donations issuing receipts ensuring adequate oversight etc We started to convene a small group of volunteers to consider outreach for donations to fund our projects but then global events took place impacting the world and Canadian Jewish communities and we decided that soliciting for donations would be inappropriate at this time. After some time we decided that it would be appropriate to consider some very direct and minimal outreach to potential donors and in late March we sent letters to a few (7) prospective donors. No response has been received yet. We collected 1 donation this year (totaling $300 from 1 donor) which is currently in our bank account given it's not enough to start putting towards our 2 main priority projects. We are working with a small group of academic volunteers to scope the mapping project for Canadian Jewish heritage sights should some more donations come in. Happy to provide further details if interested.
