Niagara Dog Rescue (NDR) is focused on rescuing dogs that have become unwanted in various areas by ensuring health spaying or neutering as needed and finding suitable homes for the dogs. With the help of volunteers NDR transports the dogs to the Niagara region temporarily fosters these animals finds suitable homes by verification of references and onsite visits. An example NDR assists in securing dogs in the Northern communities in both Ontario and Manitoba for relocation to Southern Ontario. NDR arranges the transport to Southern Ontario where the dogs are temporarily housed while being assessed for character providing some training as these may be feral animals veterinary checks etc. prior to becoming permanently placed in a home. In November 2023 NDR launched a companionship initiative targeting military and first responders. Some subsidies are provided to provide training and reduced adoption fees for members of the Canadian Armed Forces Police or Firefighting services whether at the municipal provincial federal or First Nations level. To date NDR has saved over 10 000 dogs since inception in 10 years (since inception)
