We have been endorsed by MinisterJudy Sgro for this program Bill C-284 (which she introduced us to the House of Commons). We also have the blessing of many of the Ministers and Senators. We have an extensive program designed by many professionals (all volunteers so far) ready to be implemented. We have 16 years experience recruiting informing and educating Canadians to be organ donors and a new approach will be added. We are now faced with the challenge of converting over an estimated 1 000 000 people who have not included their eyes. We have the confidence we can eliminate corneal blindness in Canada and that we are the only organization that can accomplish this important task that affects children and adults. Design and distribution of a new organ transport unit to allow corneas to be transported across the country and grant sight to the next person on the list with no travel restriction. There are an estimated 15 000 Canadians that will need corneas in the near future. Many blind people could have sight restored right now if we had the program in place.
