PREVENTION OF ELDER ABUSE AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION SERVICES.

Prevention of Elder Abuse and Community Education (PEACE) Services is a not-for-profit registered charity engaged in providing services to South Asian Seniors coming from diverse backgrounds of language cultural and diaspora from the sub-continent. We have a fully functional Seniors leadership group serving for about 10 years across the GTA. Our Core Mandate has been to raise awareness about elder abuse through community education and to conduct grassroots programs to prevent it. 1. Prevent Elder Abuse by bringing awareness and education. 2. Provide Opportunities for Seniors to engage in our communities. 3. Promote mental physical well-being and an active lifestyle among seniors. 4. Educate & encourage families/youth on the importance of Parents. 5. Establish community centers for Seniors across the Greater Toronto Area. 6.To provide respite to persons caring for aged persons by providing such services as housekeeping meal preparation nursing and shopping assistance. Our founding principles: 1. Prevent Elder Abuse by awareness through education. 2. Promote a healthy active lifestyle among seniors by relieving loneliness and isolation. 3. Free computer/tech use awareness for seniors. 4. Drop-in center for seniors to provide recreation education and cultural activities. a. Provide new immigrants seniors access to settlement services through technology. b. Respecting and valuing the thinking of all ages backgrounds and experiences. c. Eliminating artificial and systemic barriers created by age stereotyping and all other forms of discrimination. d. Extending and sharing intergenerational support beyond family and acquaintances. 5. Training elders & youth to collaboratively become ambassadors who will deliver presentations/ workshops on how to stop elder abuse within the region of Peel. 6. To liaison with Senior led organizations with similar mandate like Ontario Housing ICNA helping elders. Programs and services: 1. Free computer classes for seniors by young volunteers. 2. Seminars on Internet safety online scams shopping resources for elders in partnership with Peel Police 3. Health & Safety awareness workshops 4. Partnerships with shelters food/ fundraising.

Prevention of Elder Abuse and Community Education Services (PEACE) has actively engaged community (Seniors) through our Social Media Platforms including our 'Whatsapp' groups. These groups bring awareness of Senior Programs available in the community and keep them connected. This creates a social group and seniors reach out to our team members to seek advice and counselling to deal with their issues. Our team's have actively participated in 'community events' to bring awareness of elder abuse and have been on panel discussions explaining rights and rights and responsibilities as families to maintain good relationships within families. The team has actively mentored families on ways to avoid and resolve issues without abusing any rights including bringing awareness of Hate Crimes racial incidents. 1. Organize picnics and health awareness lectures for seniors 2. Basic Internet and Computer classes for seniors 3. To relieve loneliness and isolation of the aged or to improve their mobility and fitness.
