YPI Canada is an innovative public foundation and world leader in youth-led participatory grant-making. We offer an inclusive fully-resourced and equity-focused youth civic education project that takes place in high schools across Canada. YPI grants hundreds of thousands of dollars to community-based social service charities each year 100% based on the research and peer-to-peer advocacy of thousands of teenagers who participate in our annual project. YPI grants hundreds of thousands of dollars to community-based social service charities each year 100% based on the research and peer-to-peer advocacy of thousands of teenagers who participate in our annual project. YPI takes place in high schools where it is implemented inclusively to all students across grade 9 or 10 as a curriculum-linked graded project within any mandatory course. Teachers receive introductory training full program resources and ongoing staff support to run YPI as a curriculum-linked project in all sections of a mandatory course. Students are given authentic responsibility and decision-making power throughout the entire YPI process which sparks then sustains their motivation to engage in their community.
