Misool Foundation: In 2018 we purchased a boat in Indonesia that is on loan to the Misool Foundation who act as intermediators for WildLife Canada Society. That boat is used to patrol and police a 300 000 acre no-take-zone and to protect the most diverse marine habitat in the world. Annually we cover the costs of maintenance and repair to our boat. We also contracted the Misool Foundation to construct a ranger station on the remote island of Daram to allow the outer reaches of the no-take-zone to be effectively patrolled. We retained the ownership of both the boat and the ranger station and have listed them as assets in our financial statements. Deep Snow Mountain Caribou: In 2021 we funded the Harmony Foundation (a Canadian charitable organization) to create a large caribou conservation area in central BC. If successful it would protect over a million hectares of caribou habitat and old growth temperate rain-forests. This is an ongoing project and in 2024 we issued another grant that will be used to add public pressure to the many jurisdiction that need to approve such an ambitious project. Our Executive Director serves on the advisory group and has worked to promote that project. A portion of his hourly fees are allocated to this work. Muskox reintroduction: We are exploring the concept of reintroducing muskox into their former range in Northern Manitoba. If the plan is acceptable by all parties including First Nations Métis and Inuit Communities we would carry out the start-up and approval activities. Thereafter we would hire staff and/ or contract with other agencies to construct acclimation pens collect donor animals and care for them prior to release into the wild. Our Executive Director is managing the program and his fees have been allocated to developing the proposal.
