GSA Supports - Provided peer support resources and activity supports to student-led Gay Straight Alliances for 2SLGBTQ+ students and their friends/allies in schools within rural Albertan communities offered both in-person and virtually. Our supports include K-12 including elementary schools’ Rainbow Clubs. School presentations - delivering evidence-based presentations and education on a wide variety of topics including LGBTQ2S+ awareness and allyship understanding homophobia and transphobia an empathetic look at bullying and 2SLGBTQ+ history. Presentations were provided for students (class presentations) staff (professional development) and families of students (community presentations) within rural Albertan school divisions. In-person and virtual. We offer elementary schools presentations about why we choose to bully others and how to be an ally to someone in need. Safer Spaces - comprehensive LGBTQ2S+ professional development and training sessions for businesses and service providers (social services front-line staff municipalities etc.) offered as either single day workshops or multi day series to provide comprehensive diversity and inclusion training. Offered online and in-person. Strathcona County Pride - annual Pride Week created by the Pride Committee. Includes flag raising at County Hall with the Mayor and speeches youth events community events and educational opportunities. Often in collaboration with Strathcona County Family and Community Services Diversity & Inclusion NextGen Leadership Committee our organizational partners and the community at large. Peer Support Hours - flexible online and in-person peer support hours open to youth adults allies and families looking for guidance and resources. Online and in-person. Gemstones - in-person weekly community youth GSA in collaboration with Strathcona County Boys Girls Club at their youth hub The CanTEEN. Every Thursday evening offers a safe space for youth to make friends connections and having access to resources and information. Consistent and regular youth attending.
