THE UGC JUNIOR GOLF SOCIETY FOR OVER 19 YEARS HAS BEEN PLEASED TO PROVIDE INNER CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH AN INTRODUCTION TO GOLF AT UNIVERSITY GOLF CLUB VANCOUVER BC. THE PROGRAM HAS PARTNERED WITH KIDSAFE AND GRANDVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THE UNIVERSITY GOLF CLUB PROVIDES THE FACILITIES INCLUDING PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTION AND WE SUPPLY THE FUNDING GOLF EQUIPMENT AND VOLUNTEERS WHO HELP DELIVER THE COMPLETE PROGRAM IN A SUPERVISED ENVIRONMENT. THE TEACHING OF BASIC GOLFING SKILLS IS A KEY COMPONENT OF THE PROGRAM AND WE ALSO INSTIL AN APPRECIATION OF THE ETIQUETTE OF GOLF AND A SPIRIT OF OVERALL GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP. AT EACH SESSION WE NORMALLY HAVE 4 OR 5 VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE ABLE TO SUPPORT THE TEACHINGS OF THE UGC TEACHING PROFESSIONAL TO ON AVERAGE 10.
