MADAGASCAR SCHOOL PROJECT INC.

During 2023 we continued to grow our Tenaquip school in Madagascar. We now have over 776 students and 86 staff. We provide each student and staff member with a warm meal each day to ensure that they receive at least one healthy meal a day. We also serve breakfast to many children students and elders at times of the year when food is scarce. We grow our own gardens and rice fields to supplement our feeding program and also raise chickens and pigs to provide protein. We have a rice mill that we operate to mill our own rice we grow our own rice in rice fields that we have purchased. We provide an education to children from pre-school to high school graduation We also have a scholarship program to assist those who go on to post-secondary education and we provide tools such as computers to assist them and aid them in finding accommodations.

Last year we completed building a medical clinic and have been waiting for the clinic to be authorized by the authorities so that we can service our school and neighborhood with medical care. This spring 2025 our medical clinic was authorized a doctor and assistant hired and all the students and staff have had checkups. We are now working on a small dental practice with a retired dentist who would work one day per week. To that end we are purchasing a sterilizer putting in water and tiling the floor for the dental office. In 2022 we also completed the construction of a large workshop to teach carpentry and other trades to apprentices and others who wish to enter the trades. In 2023 we build a new 6 room classroom building. Carpentry apprentices are building the furniture for the new classrooms and repairing furniture as needed. We have also planted trees to assist with reforestation and that project is currently still underway. For several years we have built and maintained permaculture gardens to improve the land for vegetables. For succession and self-sufficiency we have started late this year to involve Malagasy staff members in much of the decision-making related to issues that affect them directly. We have a number of 'circles' with whom we hold Zoom meetings weekly to discuss and decide on courses of action related to school activities. These circles now meet weekly and we note that staff are gaining confidence in their ability to make decisions and assist with running the school.
