Haiti continues to be going through one of the most disruptive times in its recent history. The infrastructure has for the most part has been severely disrupted and as a result it has become very dangerous for many people. The activities for Third World Awareness have been seriously curtailed. One of our people was able to set up two projects to help people in two areas of food insecurity. We supported the building of a long series of steps that allows people to avoid a muddy climb up to a market area. Another project began to clear an area to set up a series of latrines for people with no indoor toilet facilities. Each of these projects employed local people and therefore helped to buy food for families. We also had food days for two communities that brought great joy to a large number of people. Teachers have been unpaid for some time in many schools and we were able to give some support.

New programs

During this year we received an unexpected amount of money by way of a videographer on YouTube who was in Cite Soleil; and was informed of the work we have done since 2003. He proceeded to open a Go Fund Me account to support us. It was very successful and opens up some possibilities when Haiti returns to some form of normality. We continue to be in touch with Haitians on the ground about future plans We will continue to work with integrity and compassion for the courageous people of this struggling country.
