What it does — in its own words

Ongoing programs

Our ongoing programs involve activities for all ages. Traditional story time has seen a decline and we have replaced it with more relevant activities like Junior Scientists and Junior Mathematicians. This STEM/STEAM programing appeals to the children (and care-givers) who have been attending. We have seen a huge increase in the number of grandparents who are retiring to take care of grandchildren. Our volunteers are still an active part of our library system. We counted 911 hours of volunteered time. Volunteers help out in various ways: shelving books looking after the ongoing booksale acting as Reading Buddies in our literacy program.

New programs

The CMLibraries spent 2024 working through our 2nd Seniors Community Grant - it has been a wonderful way to offer group activities for the senior members of our community. Throughout each year we change and adjust our programs to suit the changing needs of our community. We also try to stay on top of trends occuring in the library-world and add them into our programming when possible.
