ODD SQUAD PRODUCTIONS SOCIETY

The Registered Charity continues to fulfill its mission by delivering prevention programs for youth through two pathways: Film and Educational Presentations and Physical Literacy Programs. The Registered Charity focuses on prevention programs and opportunities for youth to develop resiliency strength character and health with the philosophy that 'it is better to prevent than heal.' The Registered Charity received thousands of hours of volunteerism contributed by its members (including a large contingent of youth volunteers) over the past year. Under the film and educational presentations pathway videos and instructional materials were produced for students educators community leaders law enforcement and other stakeholders. This includes a 'How To' youth educational series and the development of an online educational course on Fentanyl a substance abuse program on social media and a updated presentations on substance abuse issues facing youth. OSP members and volunteers delivered numerous presentations to youth with information on the dangers of drug use and gang involvement virtually and in person. Presentations were also delivered to educators and law enforcement as well. The Physical Literacy programs provided training and opportunities for youth under Odd Squad Police Judo Juniors (with over 5 000 check-ins in the past year for youth programs at Burnaby Odd Squad Headquarters) with multiple classes for youth from age 4 to early adulthood under police judo training. Odd Squad supports numerous youth with financial support for training as they are often from new immigrant families and lack the financial ability to cover any program fees (or are local youth without family financial support) travel or training fees. Youth are supported by OSP and provided with NCCP coaching courses and certification training local national and international travel and training opportunities through the support of fundraising work through Odd Squad. Other training opportunities for youth include preparatory hikes for the Duke of Edinburgh program (4 youth have now received their Bronze Medallion in the Duke of Edinburgh Program) basic tool handling and wood chopping mechanical projects like the OSP Baja Bug volunteer work days to supply firewood for an Indigenous sweat lodge and basic wood work projects on site such as charcuterie boards planters etc.

The Registered Charity continues its Film & Educational Presentations and Physical Literacy programs with new additions: OSP Baja Bug – Youth rebuild a 1972 Super Beetle VW. New Judo Classes – U10 & U6 programs once a week. International Training – Taiwan & Japan cultural and training trips (2024). Outdoor Expeditions – Duke of Edinburgh program (Cadwallader Range 2024 Cape Scott 2025). Food & Meals – Averbach Foundation grant funds meals for hundreds of youth. All-Women Police Judo – Weekly under the Physical Literacy Pathway. Community Clean-Up Days – Youth volunteers clear garbage in Burnaby. Educational Presentations OSP has updated its drug presentations to include vaping nicotine and marijuana and refreshed its gang prevention content. Presentations continue across BC. Educational courses based on film work are in development. Digital Media & Website How-To Video Series – Youth document the Baja Bug rebuild. Social Media – Regular updates on Instagram Facebook and X. Website Rebuild – Improving accessibility to OSP programs. Physical Literacy 150+ Students – Weekly sessions Team BC practices NCCP coaching and self-defense programs. Summer Camps – Expanded training camps in 2025. Workshops – Youth craft charcuterie boards planters and birdhouses. Expanded Judo – New junior classes (Sundays & Wednesdays). Travel Support – Youth train across BC Canada and internationally (France Taiwan Japan). Wilderness Training – Now a Duke of Edinburgh facility offering youth credits for volunteerism. Peer2Peer Duke of Edinburgh Program – Guides youth (14-24) in volunteerism physical recreation skills and outdoor adventure. NCCP Certification – Developing Dojo Assistants & Instructors to support Peer2Peer training. Film Projects Ongoing productions include: Indigenous Knowledge Keeper (23-part series). How-To educational films. Law enforcement training videos.
