WE LAUNCHED SOME PROGRAMS GEARED TO EDUCATING SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN AND THE VISITING PUBLIC OF THE IMPORTANCE OF THE AREA TO THOUSANDS OF MIGRATING SHOREBIRDS AS A FEEDING AND NESTING SITE. THE SURROUNDING GRASSLAND IS ALSO HOME TO MANY NATIVE SPECIES OF PLANTS AND GRASSES. THE ENDANGERED PIPING PLOVER IS ONE OF THE MANY SHOREBIRDS THAT NEST IN OUR AREA.
