Ongoing programs

THE CONSERVANCY CONTINUED ITS RESTORATION PROGRAMS IN OUR PUBLIC AND COMMUNITY SPACES AS WELL AS WITH INTERESTED PRIVATE LANDOWNERS. OUR ANNUAL MONITORING OF COVENANTS EELGRASS MEADOWS AND BULL KELP FOREST CONTINUED. WE HOSTED MANY VOLUNTEER RESTORATION EVENTS UNDER THESE PROGRAMS OUR PUBLIC AND YOUTH EDUCATION PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL; DELIVERED BY STAFF WITH MUSHROOM MUSTER AND MIGRATORY BIRD DAY WHICH WERE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. OUR NATIVE PLANT NURSERY PROVIDED 550 NATIVE PLANTS FOR USE IN ECOLOGICAL RESTORATIONS. WE HAVE A BROAD PROGRAM FOR BAT CONSERVATION THAT INCLUDES EDUCATION AND CONSERVATION INITIATIVES TO PROTECT THE BAT POPULATIONS. WE HAVE VOLUNTEER BT AMBASSADORS WHO DO THE PUBLIC OUTREACH FOR THE PROGRAM. WE PROVIDE WORKSHOPS ON NATIVE PLANT PROPAGATION WETLAND RESTORATION INVASIVE SPECIES MANAGEMENT AND LIVING WITH BATS. OUR MONTHLY E-NEWSLETTER THE OYSTER CATCHER REPORTS ON MAYNE ISLANDS FLORA AND FAUNA AS WELL AS ACTIVITIES AND UPCOMING EVENTS SPONSORED BY THE CONSERVANCY. WE HAVE A VOLUNTEER BOARD AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS ALL ENGAGED IN FURTHERING OUR PURPOSES. WE HAVE TWO FULL TIME STAFF AND HAD 800 HOURS OF COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER TIME HELPING TO DELIVER ALL OUR PROGRAMS.
