LANARK COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY

We continue to Preserve and promote the genealogy and cultural legacy of Lanark County Ontario through comprehensive research writing and drafting and the meticulous research writing drafting and editing processes involved to produce our next set of volumes of Lanark County farm histories and landowner genealogy laying a solid foundation for the forthcoming sequel encompassing volumes 5 and 6. Promoting Our Society as an Educational Resource Our efforts to establish our society as a significant educational asset for local history initiatives and early family education programs aimed at the youth of Lanark County have been consistently successful. - We have attracted both younger members and adults from around the globe. - Our event marketing has expanded to include two rural heritage expos as well as the long-standing County plowing match where we prominently showcased and sold our farm history publications. - Many visitors to our booth have signed up for genealogy memberships with some contributing their family histories to our library records. Our Bimonthly Newsletter: A Growing Attraction Additionally our bimonthly newsletter has turned into a popular souvenir as county towns and municipalities include it among their visitors' table items. We are committed to regularly publishing well-researched articles across various social media platforms including Facebook Instagram Twitter and our official website. Notably our Facebook articles reach an impressive 1.2 million readers each month attracting an international audience.

Our Digital Resource Library is expanding as both members and the public share their researched family histories allowing others to explore these histories as valuable research avenues. In collaboration with one of our county municipalities we successfully hosted a well-attended Heritage Bus Tour that focused on the historical hamlets of Beckwith Township. Many participants were new residents eager to discover the township's rich history and hear the family stories of its early settlers. We are actively engaged in community service assisting at public events and setting up marketing displays that promote our society. Our efforts showcase the valuable resources we offer and our leadership in preserving Lanark County's cultural heritage genealogy and historical artifacts. We are researching writing and developing questions centered around family history and county heritage as we prepare to host our first Trivia and Family History Basket Social Event. Our ongoing initiatives include continually updating the catalog of our holdings at the Genealogy Resource Centre and offsite storage locations.
