GROUPE D'ACTION FEMININ FRANCOPHONE DE L'ONTARIO (GAFFO) INC.

Program 1 'Kchi Ukubanbisana: La Grande Collaboration' is a collaborative art project with a group of Atikamekw artisans from Manawan. 5 Teams of GAFFO and Manawan artists will collaborate to create traditional Ribbon Skirts and collard that combine teachings and symbols from both African and Atikamekw traditions. The Projecty is the second Collaborative Project with Frist Nations groups. Program 2 Beaded Dreams working with the Vision Quest Project Giidwin group a collaborative of Indigenous artists GAFFO hosted beading workshops to teach Seniors and youth how to do traditional beading from the African tradition. Program 3 Jeunes Auteurs Africains Francophones (JAAF) : This summer program aims to promote and preserve French literacy among African Francophone youth (ages 13-27) in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) through literature and writing workshops. These workshops will enhance participants' prose and poetry skills preparing them for a short story and poetry competition. Winners will have the opportunity to be published in the African Francophone newspaper Journal Caanora. Program 4 Les Echos de la scene Africaine is a 3 year theatrical program which will develop an amateur acting group that will perform a play a year selected from relevant African Francophone playwrights. The goal of this project is to make a meaningful contribution to the French theatre scene in the GTA and to promote African Francophone culture. Program 5 Social Justice Research Project to document the inequalities experienced by African Francophone non-profit and registered charities operating in Canada. Building on the work of Dr. A. Madibbo this project will be a central feature in a nation project lead by GAFFO to raise awareness of philanthropic and government funding agencies regarding the systemic discrimination faced by these organizations and how the lack of funding is significantly impacting the African Francophone population in Canada. Program 6 African Textile Arts: This is a 3 year program that will teach participants the fundamentals of African textile arts in preparation of starting small businesses in artistic textile arts traditional clothing and home fashion items. Program 7 Immigration 101: This is a series of conferences created to specifically for Francophone immigrants that combines discussion panels lectures and experiential learning to help immigrants to navigate changes in the Canadian immigration system successfully
