STREAM OF DREAMS MURALS SOCIETY

In 2024 Stream of Dreams visited 17 schools in Canada with our Fish on Fences program totalling 5647 participants. Programs were delivered in Metro Vancouver Vancouver Island the BC interior and Whitehorse Yukon Territories. Virtual programs were also delivered in the following locations: Prince Rupert BC; Calgary Alberta; Toronto Ontario; Longlac Ontario. Stream of Dreams Fish on Fences continues to offer quality environmental programming throughout BC schools with education through our unique science to art concept. This program educated thousands of children teachers and families about protecting their local waterways from pollution. Through a dynamic presentation to every school class children learn simple ways they can help prevent pollution from entering their local creeks rivers and oceans. Students then paint a wooden salmon that becomes the visual representation of their lessons as a permanent school fence mural. Stream of Dreams also continued offering our Indigenous Day camps in the summer fall and winter of 2024. This included a total of 23 days of free environmental programming for Indigenous children ages 6-12 with a focus on Traditional Ecological Knowledge. Camps were led by an Indigenous Knowledge Keeper and included guest Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers. In total we served 51 Indigenous children over 345 individual spaces ages 6-12 including many from foster care or other vulnerable communities. Stream of Dreams entered our second year of our Street to Sea program delivering this to 8 schools in Metro Vancouver. We also were able to divert nearly 500 kg of garbage from entering our local storm drains. In this program intermediate classes learn about the harms of garbage on the street to our creeks rivers and oceans. After an interactive classroom workshop each class then goes outdoors to pick up garbage in their school neighbourhoods. Each school is gifted a set of garbage pickers reflective vests and a weight hook to measure their future garbage hauls.
