Ethiopian Evangelical Church of Edmonton: Overview of Ministries and Services The Ethiopian Evangelical Church of Edmonton operates through two distinct branches each serving the unique needs of its congregation. 1. Main Branch :The main branch is composed primarily of families who have immigrated from Ethiopia and Eritrea. It offers a range of programs and services designed to nurture spiritual growth provide support and strengthen community ties. - Sunday Worship: Weekly worship services focused on teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and fostering fellowship with God. - Mid-Week Outreach: Various outreach programs held during the week to engage members and the broader community in spiritual development and service. - Support Services: Assistance provided to both members and non-members to help them live according to Evangelical Christian principles. - Counseling Services: Support is offered by church leaders volunteer counseling ministries and deacons to address social emotional financial and mental health challenges. The church provides intervention strategies and practical solutions as part of its pastoral care. - Youth and Children’s Ministry: Programs and outreach events designed for children of Ethiopian and Eritrean expatriates facilitated by both adult and youth volunteers. - Missionary Activities: Partnerships with other churches and ministries to provide care support and accommodation for children in rural areas of Ethiopia. - Partnerships and Sponsorships: The church collaborates with various organizations and charitable entities to: - Sponsor children in Ethiopia; - Support Ethiopian and Eritrean refugees in different in and out side of Canada; - Provide financial aid to churches and individuals in Africa and the Middle East. - Refugee Support in Canada: The church plays an active role in refugee sponsorship working in collaboration with its members and the Government of Canada under official sponsorship agreements to facilitate the resettlement of refugees. 2. Hybrid Church The second and growing branch is the Hybrid Church which primarily consists of second-generation Canadians. This branch is focused on equipping young people with tools for spiritual maturity emotional well-being and leadership.
