Ongoing programs

Camp Scugog provides summer camp programs to children youth and mothers who are most aff ected by poverty. We off er a non-threatening safe environment where campers can gain new knowledge and skills. We off er 3 diff erent camping sessions: children teens and mothers with children to address the diverse needs of our campers. We off er activities such as swimming canoeing kayaking archery crafts biking hiking ropes course and overnight trips. We also off er a Leader In Training (LIT) program for 15-17year olds. Camp Scugog provides summer camp programs to children youth and mothers who are most aff ected by poverty. We off er a non-threatening safe environment where campers can gain new knowledge and skills. We off er 3 diff erent camping sessions: children teens and mothers with children to address the diverse needs of our campers. We off er activities such as swimming canoeing kayaking archery crafts biking hiking ropes course and overnight trips. We also off er a Leader In Training (LIT) program for 15-17year olds. A select group are chosen each summer for this 2 year program where they develop their leadership skills swimmingqualifi cations canoeing out-tripping orienteering and problem solving. The LIT program is run separately from the regular campprogram however the LITs are integrated into the regular camp program towards the end of the summer allowing them toexercise the new leadership skills they have learned. We also have Nature School. Scugog Nature School provides outdoor inquiry-based learning tochildren ages 1 to 13. Through spontaneous outdoor play children expand their understanding of math science art language andphysical education while gaining confi dence and self-esteem. Learning outcomes are based on real-time explorations andexperiences rather than predetermined concepts.
