DEVITT'S CEMETERY

Devitt's Cemetery a volunteer organization operates an active public cemetery located near Blackstock Ontario as a service to the local community offering a low cost interment option. The Cemetery sells burial and cremation lots performs interments and maintains the grave markers within the cemetery grounds. Devitt's Cemetery raises funds as a charity from supporters and volunteers within the local community. The Cemetery's Operations are regulated by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario and are in full compliance. The Cemetery is also a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Cemetery and Funeral Professionals. Volunteer hours in 2023 totalled over five hundred. Cash donations are imperative to permit ongoing operations as an active cemetery.

The Cemetery is actively recruiting new volunteers from the community as well as recruiting new Board members so as to manage better its future operations. Devitt's Cemetery's website is continually updated to facilitate communication with its volunteers members and the public relative to the services the Cemetery provides and the associated prices. Events such as Decoration Sundays are scheduled annually as fund raising events for members of the Cemetery to which the general public is invited. In addition Devitt's Cemetery continues to emphasize the Cemetery's historical contributions to the Blackstock community over the past one hundred and sixty-five years.
