PARENTS WHO HAVE AN AUTISTIC CHILD CAN APPLY FROM WHEN THEY ARE 3 TO 10 YEARS OLD. WE WILL ONLY PROVIDE A DOG TO THEM WHEN THE CHILD IS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 5 AND 13 YEARS OLD. THE PURPOSE OF TEH DOG IS TO PROVIDE GROUNDING AND SUPPORT WHEN A CHILD IS BECOMING DYSREGULATED OR IS HAVING A MELTDOWN. MOBILITY SERVICE DOGS: HAVE A VEST AND HAVE PUBLIC ACCESS WITH THEIR CLIENT MAIN TASKS INCLUDE: RETRIEVAL (TO GET BRING IT GIVE) OPENING DOORS/CUPBOARDS (TUG) CLOSING DOORS/DRAWERS (PUSH) TURNING ON/OFF LIGHTS (LIGHT) SUPPORTING AN INDIVIDUAL MOVING FROM ONE AREA TO ANOTHER. OUR DOGS HELP SOMEONE WITH A PHYSICAL DISABILITY IN THIS CASE. FACILITY DOGS: HAVE A VET BUT DO NOT HAVE PUBLIC ACCESS WITH THEIR CLIENT THE PURPOSE OF THE DOG IS TO PROVIDE GROUNDING AND SUPPORT WHEN SOMEONE IS BECOMING DYSREGULATED OR THEIR SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM IS FIRING (FIGHT OR FLIGHT). THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED TRAUMA. COMPANION DOGS: DO NOT HAVE A VEST AND DO NOT HAVE PUBLIC ACCESS WITH THEIR CLIENT COMPANION DOGS ARE FOR CLIENTS THAT NEED EXTRA SUPPORT IN THE HOME FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS (CLIENT DEPENDENT) BUT THEY DO NOT NEED THE EXTRA SUPPORT IN PUBLIC.
