Ongoing programs
THE COMMUNITY GARDEN EMPLOYS YOUTH AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. THE GARDEN IMPLEMENTS A SUSTAINABLE FOOD SECURITY SYSTEM FOR OUR PEOPLE. OUR OBJECTIVE EVERY SEASON IS TO PLAN GROW HARVEST AND PROCESS ORGANIC FRUIT AND VEGETABLES AT THE FARM WITH THE COMMUNITY AND FOR THE COMMUNITY. IT IS A GREAT SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE MOST IN NEED. ANOTHER PROJECT THAT IS ONGOING IS OUR DIGITIZATION RECORDINGS WHERE ELDERS ARE INTERVIEWED AND RECORDED THEN TRANSLATED INTO THE LANGUAGE. WE ALSO HAVE ONGOING BUILDING RENOVATIONS.
New programs
WE HAVE SECURED A GRANT TO HELP FINISH A FOOD SECURITY BUILDING WHERE COMMUNITY MEMBERS CAN STORE FOOD AND HAVE A SPACE FOR PRESERVING FOOD. AS WELL AS UPGRADING THE GREENHOUSE AND BUILDING A WASH AND DRY STATION. THE GARDEN PROVIDES FOOD TO THE ELDERS AND THE LOCAL FOOD BANK. COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE ALSO WELCOME TO VOLUNTEER AND HARVEST FRUITS AND VEGETABLES FOR THEIR FAMILIES. WE ALSO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECEIVE FUNDING FOR A LIFESKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM TO HELP COMMUNITY MEMBERS GET TRAINING WORK EXPERIENCE CERTIFICATES ETC.
