THE WINNIPEG JAZZ ORCHESTRA CONSISTS OF 18 TO 22 REGULAR JAZZ PROFESSIONALS OFTEN PRESENTS LOCAL NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL GUESTS AND ENCOURAGES UP-AND-COMING TALENT BY INCLUDING THEM IN CONCERTS. THE WINNIPEG JAZZ ORCHESTRA COMMISSIONS AND OBTAINS COMMISSIONS FROM GRANTING ORGANIZATIONS FOR NEW COMPOSITIONS BY CANADIAN COMPOSERS. THESE WORKSHOPS PROVIDE MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BANDS WITH AN OPPORTUNITY FOR GROWTH AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT BY WORKING CLOSELY WITH WJO MUSICIANS AND GUEST ARTISTS AND BY EXPERIENCING A WJO CONCERT
