PEOPLE TO PEOPLE AID ORGANIZATION (CANADA)

People to People Canada (P2P) is an Ontario Canada registered charity founded in Toronto in 1999 that engages in Community Health Advocacy Mobilization Education Capacity Building and Victims Support (especially orphans and vulnerable children). P2P focuses on Healthy Living initiatives Mental Health the prevention of communicable diseases and creating awareness around overall Health Determinants (physical social economic and cultural). P2P’s community health engagement is mainly focused on the Ethiopian Community in the GTA and culturally adjacent vulnerable communities. P2P’s victim support (orphans and vulnerable children) programs are primarily focused on Ethiopia and the Horn region. P2P’s flagship Orphan sponsorship program in Ethiopia which has positively transformed the lives of hundreds of orphans and vulnerable children is in its 25th year. Our auxiliary support programs have benefited over two thousand children. P2P actively partners with community organizations non-profits and public service agencies who are engaged in community health and related endeavours in Canada and Ethiopia. P2P has completed several community health education and mobilization programs in the GTA that have benefited the community. More recently our community health focus has shifted to Mental Health advocacy education and community mobilization focusing on youth and vulnerable groups. The P2P community mental health engagement that is led by youthful P2P volunteers under the Sound the Horn (STH) banner was launched in 2019. The STH group is now gearing up to engage specific segments of young community members in a 'Transitions Program' that will utilize virtual and in-person peer to peer discussion groups for the youth to leverage from each other’s experiences as well as learn from invited mental health professionals.
