BINGO every Friday year-round KEEP FIT 3 TIMES/WEEK Sept-April LINE DANCING Thursdays 11 months POOL ROOM 6 days/week year-round CARDS 2-3 times/week SOCIAL COFFEE weekly. CARDIO/STRENGTH FITNESS and CHAIR FIT twice weekly Sept - April MUSIC JAM Wednesdays Sept through May SATURDAY DANCE Sept through June. We provided scholarships to two South Okanagan Secondary School Students Financial and food donations supported the Oliver Food Bank Desert Sun Counselling and Resource Centre uses our kitchen library hall and coffee room at less than cost for their 'Therapeutic Activation for Seniors (TAPS) Program' twice weekly through the summer We support the Oliver Youth Ambassadors Program through volunteer mentorship opportunities and financial donations We are an extreme weather drop-in/cool down/hydration centre during the summer heat. This Senior Centre and all of its regular programs activities administration seasonal and special one-time events are organized and managed 100% by at least 60 volunteers donating a total of approximately 1 000 hours per month. All regular programs are provided at zero or very minimal costs ranging from free to $5 per session to enable financially challenged seniors to keep fit and socialize at minimal costs. Games Day is a weekly board games day year round. Art/Craft workshops such as rock painting tie dying and flower arranging workshops are approximately bi-monthly Sept - May. Art Gallery viewing several days/week in our main hall year-round. Art shows for many local art groups allow free exposure for many youth special needs senior independent and group artists who may not have other opportunities to display their work. Informational Speaker Series - talks on topics such as Fire Smart wildfire preparation Emergency Preparedness Advance Care Planning and Fraud Prevention provide free educational and social get-togethers approximately monthly. We also host several outside user groups offering support and mentoring such as Alzheimer's/Dementia caregivers (monthly) grief support (monthly) and seasonal socials for migrant workers.
