THE BRITISH COLUMBIA LUNG ASSOCIATION CARRIED OUT A VARIETY OF PUBLIC AND PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS INCLUDING WORKSHOPS COMMUNITY LECTURE SERIES AND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES ON VARIOUS LUNG DISEASES. THEY HAVE ALSO PROVIDED FUNDING FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH AND TRAINING OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS. PROGRAMS INCLUDED: PRESENTATIONS ON LUNG HEALTH ASTHMA OBSTRUCTIVE LUNG DISEASE AND PUBLICATIONS ON LUNG CANCER EMPHYSEMA TUBERCULOSIS SMOKING AND PNEUMONIA

1. ASTHMA CAMP: OFFERS A FUN AND EDUCATIONAL SETTING FOR CHILDREN WITH ASTHMA TO LEARN HOW TO MANAGE THEIR ASTHMA MEDICATIONS AND TRIGGERS 2. CARTER’S PROJECT: IS AN INITIATIVE IN HONOR OF CARTER VIGH A 9 YEAR OLD WHO DIED OF AN ASTHMA ATTACK DUE TO POOR AIR QUALITY. THIS INITIATIVE PROVIDES FREE AIR QUALITY MONITORS TO BC COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY POOR AIR QUALITY AND LACKING AIR QUALITY MONITORING STATIONS
